Turkey has almost 8,000 kilometers of coastline. It is bordered by the Black Sea to the north, the Aegean Sea to the west and the Mediterranean Sea to the south. Eastern Thrace (Europe) and Anatolia (Asia) are separated by the Sea of Marmara.

The main catamaran departure bases are on the Lycian coast to the southwest, in the Aegean and Mediterranean.

Formalities

French nationals are exempt from visa requirements for a tourist stay in Turkey not exceeding 90 days out of a 180-day period, whether the stay is continuous or divided. They must, however, be in possession of a national identity card or an individual passport valid for at least 150 days beyond the date of entry into Turkey.

Boating license

In Turkey, a boating license is required to rent a catamaran.

You'll need to present a Nautical CV to reassure the rental company of your ability to sail independently if you don't want to hire a professional skipper.

The main catamaran departure bases are in the south-west of the country, along the Lycian coast between the Aegean and Mediterranean Seas: Bodrum, Orhaniye, Marmaris, Göcek, Fethiye, Kas.
